America's Highway

Route 66 has been America's Highway for generations. Knowing full well that the historic route will soon be lost in the high-speed world we've chosen, I wanted to take the trip.

I wanted to see what my parents spoke about and examine what life was like as they grew up.

If it weren't for people actively trying to keep the route alive, all the memories that involve this huge part of American history would be lost in time.

There was a lot of road to cover and our strategy was more of a general plan.

The only things that were certain were the starting point, the ending point, and the time we had to actually make the trip.

Something to remember about taking the classic route is that it takes much more time than the interstate. However, what you lose in time, you gain in experience. If you ever take this trip you may want to look at it from a different perspective. You're not driving somewhere so you can go on vacation. The driving is the vacation.
